Put your chess game online

I’ve been playing a lot of Chess lately, on the ICC, and I just bumped into this neat utility hosted by the ICC, where I can put a little HTML into my web page, and display a chess game.

All I do is point my browser here http://www.chessclub.com/chessviewer/pgnform.html then paste in my PGN file, that looks like this:

[Event "ICC"]
[Site "Internet Chess Club"]
[Date "2008.11.02"]
[White "*ChaosCaptain"]
[Black "*orlando16"]
[Result "1-0"]
[WhiteElo "0"]
[BlackElo "0"]
[TimeControl "120+12"]

1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 3. c4 e6 4. dxe6 Bxe6 5. d3 Bc5
6. Nf3 h6 7. d4 Bd6 8. c5 Be7 9. Bd3 Nc6 10. Be3 O-O
11. Nc3 Bg4 12. h3 Bh5 13. Qc2 Bxf3 14. gxf3 Nxd4 15. Qd1 Bxc5
16. Ne4 Nxe4 17. Bxe4 c6 18. Rg1 Kh8 19. Qd2 a5 20. Bxh6 Bb4
21. Bxg7+ Kg8 22. Bxd4+
1-0

and click submit to get the HTML to drop into my web page. Super simple. EXCEPT ITS BROKEN. Yeah, I made the blog post while I was trying it. I was planning on dropping the HTML right here and showing you the results. Guess I’ll have to come back later to show that. I reported the form as broken.

More detailed information: http://www.chessclub.com/chessviewer/about.html – I could just code it up myself, but that’s more work than I feel like doing right now.

Dave.
